Pigeon Point

Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, about 50 miles south of San Francisco, is the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse. It is one of the tallest lighthouses in America and has been guiding mariners since 1872. The associated keepers' housing was restored as a hostel by Hostelling International-American Youth Hostels, California State Parks, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel offers private rooms, as well as dorm lodging. It has a wonderful hottub, for private rental, that sits on the cliff overlooking the ocean and rocks below. You can sit in the hottub beneath the moon and stars some evenings, while on many occasions you can enjoy the heat while the fog rolls in off the ocean! The sights are breathtaking!
